No. 55 Men’s Tennis Falls to No. 43 Miami

TALLAHASSEE – The No. 55 Florida State men's tennis team (12-14, 3-10 ACC) dropped a tight 4-3 contest to Miami (14-10, 6-7) Saturday afternoon at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center in Coral Gables.
Florida State secured two doubles victories on courts one and three for the early lead. Gabor Horning and Luis Felipe Miguel won their third straight match as a pair after defeating Serra Sanchez and Jules Garot, 6-3. Miami came back to even the score after defeating the Seminoles' Justin Lyons and Mohammad Alkotop 6-2. No. 65 Jan Sebesta and Erik Schiessl responded with a win on court one 6-2 over No. 33 Medhi Sadaoui and Jakub Kroslak to clinch the doubles point.
The Seminoles got off to a strong start in singles on court five as Alkotop took down Sadaoui in a two-set battle. Azariah Rusher then defeated Rafael Segado, 6-1, 7-5 to boost Florida State's lead to 3-0. Miami found an advantage on court six as Lyons fell to Garot, 7-6 (5), 6-2.
Miami then made quick work on courts two and three to tie the match, leaving all eyes on the top position. No. 106 Miguel dropped the first set, before regaining motion to force a third set but ultimately fell in the final game.
Florida State turns its attention towards the ACC Men's Tennis Championship in Cary, North Carolina from April 15-19. Live video and stats will be available on Seminoles.com.
