Florida State Begins ACC Men’s Tennis Championship

CARY, N.C. – The Florida State men's tennis team (12-14, 3-10 ACC) returns to Cary, North Carolina to begin its quest for the program's second conference title and will begin in the first round against No. 12-seed Louisville (17-12, 5-8) at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
The Seminoles achieved the program's first ACC title in 2024, becoming the lowest seed to win the competition as the No. 6 seed. FSU knocked off four ranked teams in four days, defeating Virginia Tech 4-1, sweeping No. 11 NC State 4-0 and knocking off No. 7 Wake Forest 4-3 before completing an epic 4-3 comeback win over the reigning national champion Virginia.
Earlier this year, Florida State faced the Cardinals on the road on March 1. Florida State opened the match against Louisville by claiming the doubles point with dominant wins on courts one and three. The duo of Jan Sebesta and Erik Schiessl started the Seminoles by taking court three over Andre Steinbach and Walid Ahouda, 6-3. Oren Ezerzer and Gabor Hornung finished off doubles action with their fourth win of the season after defeating Pedro Cressoni and Hamza El Amie.
Louisville is coming off a 4-0 loss to Notre Dame on the road to conclude the regular season. Notre Dame claimed the early advantage by taking down the top two courts in doubles competition. The Fighting Irish duo of Luis Llorens Saracho and Peter Nad clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win on court two. In singles play, Notre Dame took down courts one, six then two in straight sets to secure the 4-0 victory.
The Cardinals are led by Cressoni who notched his 100th collegiate win over Boston College. The Brazil native has tallied 62 singles wins and 38 doubles wins over his career with 23 of those coming in a Louisville uniform.
Luis Felipe Miguel leads Florida State as the No. 106 player in the nation and is ranked among the top 25 best players in the ACC. He has an overall record of 15-8 in singles and an impressive 19-6 doubles slate. Felipe Miguel was crowned the ITA Regional Co-Singles Champion and the Doubles Champion alongside Schiessl.

One-day tickets for the ACC Championships are priced at $15 for adults (ages 18 and older) and $10 for children ages 17 and under and non-ACC college students with a valid school ID. Admission is free for children 8 and under and ACC college students with a school ID. A full championship pass for all six days is priced at $30. All seating for the tournament is general admission.
