Moore Named ACC Pitcher of the Week

TALLAHASSEE – Florida State baseball junior right-handed starter Bryson Moore has been named the ACC Pitcher of the Week, the conference unveiled on Monday.
This is the fourth consecutive week FSU has earned an ACC weekly award and Moore is the third pitcher recognized. He is joined by junior left-handers Trey Beard (March 14) and Wes Mendes (March 30) as Pitchers of the Week and first baseman Myle Bailey (March 23), the ACC Player of the Week.
This is the first time since 2006 that the Seminoles have had three different pitchers be recognized as ACC Pitcher of the Week.
Moore is recognized with a weekly accolade for the first time in his career.
To clinch a series win at No. 10 Virginia from April 2-4, Moore had a dominant start in the Seminoles' 9-3 victory on Saturday. In a career-best 7.0 innings, he did not allow a run on two hits with a career-high-tying seven strikeouts and one walk. Moore pitched into the seventh for the first time in his career and did not allow a run for the second time this season. His one walk ties a career low when pitching more than 3.0 innings. The middle of Moore's outing featured 13 in a row retired and the fourth inning where he struck out the side.
Pitching against his former team, Moore improved to 5-1 on the season with the career-best outing. The seven-inning shutout performance came against a Virginia team that entered the weekend averaging 9.6 runs per game.
The win helped FSU, now ranked No. 5 nationally, to the series win at UVA. At 9-3 in the league, Florida State is off to its best ACC start since a 9-2 mark in 2016, while the 2015 campaign was the last time the team opened with four conference series wins in a row, with a five-series streak. The Seminoles have won all four ACC series to begin the season, with three of them against top-12 opponents and two coming on the road, both against ranked foes.
