70 Florida State Student-Athletes To Receive Degrees During Spring Commencement Ceremonies

Florida State Earns School-Record Academic Progress Rate for Second Straight Report

TALLAHASSEE – Florida State Athletics has earned a school-record multi-year Academic Progress Rate of 993, it was announced Tuesday, bettering the previous record of 992 set in last year's report.
 
"Breaking our record APR for the second straight year is a direct testament to the hard work by our student-athletes and the support of the university and our academic staff," Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford said. "Florida State continues to provide a complete experience as our student-athletes reach new heights in competition and in the classroom. A Florida State degree is among the most valuable in the country, and I'm proud of our student-athletes who continue to take advantage of all the opportunities and resources available to set a solid foundation for their future."
 
Five programs earned a perfect 1,000 score over the four-year span concluding with the 2024-25 academic year, the second-highest total of perfect scores in department history. Women's golf earned a perfect score for the 16th straight year, while women's tennis earned its ninth straight perfect APR mark. Volleyball posted a perfect score for the fifth year in a row and seventh time in program history, and beach volleyball posted a perfect score for the third consecutive year and sixth time in program history. Softball had a perfect 1,000 for the second straight year and third time in program history.
 
Five additional programs earned a score of 990 or higher. Men's swimming and diving posted a score of 997, while men's tennis and women's soccer both scored 994. Football earned a program-best score for the fourth straight report after scoring a 993. Football's score ranked third in the ACC, with men's swimming and diving and men's tennis both posting the fifth-highest score in the conference for their sports.
 
Additionally, 12 sports posted a perfect single-year APR score for the 2024-25 academic year. Women's basketball, beach volleyball, men's cross country, football, men's golf, women's golf, softball, soccer, men's swimming and diving, men's tennis, women's tennis and volleyball all earned a 1,000 score.
 
The APR was established to recognize institutions for the academic progress of their student-athletes through a team-based metric that accounts for the eligibility and retention of each student-athlete for each academic term.
