CARLSBAD, Calif. -Â Florida State junior Jack Whaley advanced to the final round of stroke play at the 2026 NCAA Men's Golf Championship on Monday at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa.
Â
Whaley was one of the top nine individuals from a non-advancing team after three rounds of play.
Â
Sitting at 3-under entering the round, Whaley started the afternoon from the 10th tee. Â He made birdie on his second hole, but gave the stroke back on No. 12. Whaley answered on his fourth hole with another birdie, but carded a bogey on the next hole.
Â
Looking for momentum, Whaley birdied holes 15 and 17 before making the turn to move to 5-under.
Â
After six steady holes, Whaley moved to 6-under on the par-five sixth hole after a birdie, but gave it back on the seventh. Â Whaley closed out strong on the ninth hole with a birdie to move to 6-under, 282 for the tournament, tying for 14th place after finishing the round 3-under, 69.
Â
Whaley carded rounds of 72, 68, 73 and 69 in his first NCAA appearance. His four-round score ties the fourth lowest for an FSU player at the NCAA Championship in program history alongside Jonas Blixt (2007) and Luke Clanton (2024).
