TALLAHASSEE – Florida State baseball head coach Link Jarrett has announced that Will MacLean has joined the program as a graduate assistant in 2026-27.

MacLean joins the FSU staff after serving as an assistant coach in 2026 at both Southern Maine and with the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League.

A team captain at Creighton as a senior in 2025, MacLean was a four-year starter over his career, from 2022-23 at UMass and 2024-25 at Creighton. He capped his career on the 2025 Fayetteville Regional All-Regional Team and led the team in home runs during his senior campaign.

"Will brings a fantastic baseball pedigree into our program," FSU head coach Link Jarrett said. "His playing background, coaching experience and work ethic will assist both our players and coaches as we continue to strive for excellence. We are very fortunate to have him at FSU."

As an assistant at Southern Maine in 2026, MacLean coached a D3Baseball First Team All-American, ABCA Second Team All-American, conference player of the year and twice-honored regional player of the year. As USM's offense led Division III in scoring with 11.4 runs per game, 11 players earned all-conference honors, seven were recognized on the ABCA All-Region Team and five collected D3Baseball All-Region distinction behind MacLean's coaching.

With the Huskies, MacLean assisted with all aspects of hitting instruction, including mechanical development and approach at the plate. He supported infield and outfield defensive training through drill design and skill progression work. MacLean coached both first and third base during the season and assisted in recruiting efforts.

"I'm incredibly excited and thankful for the opportunity to join the Florida State baseball staff and to be part of a championship-caliber program," MacLean said. "I am eager to work alongside Coach Link Jarrett and help guide FSU back to Omaha."

This summer in the Cape Cod League with the Orleans Firebirds, MacLean was an assistant hitting coach and helped with defensive positioning. He served as first base coach and was the team's camp director.

Since 2021, MacLean also has coached the New England Mariners. That includes serving as an assistant in 2024 with the 17-U team.

An infielder at Creighton, MacLean played in 94 games with 91 starts in two seasons. He led the team with nine home runs as a senior in 2025 and hit .258 in his Blue Jay career. With 87 hits, MacLean notched 17 doubles, 11 home runs and two triples with 59 RBI and a .258 batting average and 43 walks in his two seasons.

From 2022-23 at UMass, MacLean appeared in 90 games with 85 starts as an infielder and outfielder. He hit .308 with 103 hits, 16 doubles, 12 home runs, four triples, 65 RBI and 41 walks.

His career honors include Fayetteville Regional All-Regional Team accolades in 2025 and Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team recognition in 2022.

At Florida State, MacLean is pursuing his masters degree in athletic coaching.

A native of Exeter, New Hampshire, MacLean graduated from Creighton in 2025 with a bachelor's degree in communications. He was the recipient of the Dr. Chad McBride Spirit Award, given to a student who demonstrates an authentic dedication to communication studies.
