No. 2 Beach Volleyball Heads to South Carolina for Gamecock Grand Slam

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The second-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (17-0) heads to Columbia, S.C. this weekend to compete in the Gamecock Grand Slam. The Seminoles will play all four of their matches against ranked opponents. FSU takes on No. 17 Georgia State (9:00 am) and No. 16 Stetson (1:00 pm) on Saturday, March 27 and No. 9 TCU (9:00 am) and No. 15 South Carolina (1:00 pm) on Sunday, March 28.
FSU is a combined 49-1 against their opponents this weekend and enters the Gamecock Grand Slam ranked No. 2 in the AVCA top-20. The Seminoles have been ranked in the top-5 in 48 of the 54 AVCA top-20 rankings since beach volleyball became an NCAA sport in 2016. Florida State has been in the top-7 in all 54 polls.
Florida State opens the weekend at 9 am on Saturday, March 27 against No. 17 Georgia State. Florida State is 11-1 all-time against the Panthers and 8-1 against GSU at a neutral site. The two teams met earlier in the season at LSU, resulting in a 5-0 FSU win.
The Garnet and Gold complete day one of the Gamecock Grand Slam against No. 16 Stetson at 1 pm. FSU is undefeated against the Hatters, with a perfect 14-0 record. The two teams met last weekend at the FAU Beach Bash in Paradise; Florida State won 4-1 with wins on courts two through five.
The Seminoles begin play on Saturday, March 28 at 9 am against No. 9 TCU. Florida State is 8-0 against TCU and has only surrendered two courts to the Horned Frogs in their eight meetings. Florida State defeated TCU 5-0 in the March to May tournament earlier this season.
FSU caps off play for the weekend at 1 pm on March 28 against tournament host and No. 15 South Carolina. Florida State is 15-0 all-time against the Gamecocks. The Seminoles have only surrendered six courts in their 15 meetings and FSU is 2-0 in Columbia.
