Noles Travel to Face NC State

RALEIGH, North Carolina – The Florida State baseball team (13-19) will travel to NC State (21-11) for a three-game series this weekend at Doak Field. Friday night’s game will start at 6:00 p.m. with Saturday’s game slated for 7:00 p.m. and Sunday’s match-up at 2:00 p.m.
Friday and Sunday’s games this weekend will be streamed live on ACCNX, with Saturday’s game on ACC Network. Fans in Tallahassee can listen on WFLA 100.7 FM or around the country through TuneIn or the FSU Gameday app.

After a tough loss Tuesday at No. 3 Florida, Florida State (13-19) will travel to NC State (21-11) in the hopes of turning the rest of their season around.
Sophomore Jackson Baumeister is set to make his ninth start of the season for game one of the series against NC State on Friday night. The right hander was named the Perfect Game and NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week for his performance last week against Clemson, where he set career highs with 7.0 innings pitched and 14 strikeouts in FSU’s 5-1 victory over the Tigers. Baumeister threw 110 pitches in the contest and allowed just four hits, two walks and did not allow a run.
Conner Whittaker will start for the Noles in Saturday’s contest for his third game of the season. Whittaker’s career-high 7.1 innings pitched last week against Clemson, where he struck out four batters, marked the longest outing for a Seminole this season. The last time FSU had back-to-back seven-inning outings from a starter was in March 2022, when Carson Montgomery (vs. UCF), Parker Messick (vs. Duke) and Bryce Hubbart (vs. Duke) all threw 7.0 innings.
Sophomore Jaime Ferrer leads the FSU offense with a .356 batting average through thirty-two games. Tuesday against UF he hit a single and leads FSU with 48 hits on the season.
FSU leads the all-time series with NC State, 73-33. Ferrer hit a walk-off home run in the 17th inning last season to win the rubber match, 6-5, to take the series in Tallahassee.
