TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida State baseball team received its third preseason ranking of the 2016 season on Wednesday when Perfect Game placed the Seminoles 20th.
Florida State, which has laid claim to the ACC regular season title or finished with the best record in the league in 19 of the last 25 seasons, begins the 2016 season in search of an unprecedented 69th consecutive winning season.
“It is an exciting time of year as we approach our first day of practice on Jan. 29th,” said head coach Mike Martin. “Certainly this is an inexperienced club in many areas, but we do feel we have an opportunity to improve as the season progresses.”
The Noles, under the direction of Martin, own the highest winning percentage in NCAA Division I since 2000 and the second highest winning percentage all-time in Division I history.
The 2016 season begins on Friday, Feb. 19 when the Seminoles host Rhode Island for the first of a three-game set that is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
The Seminoles drew top 25 rankings in the Collegiate Baseball (16th) and D1Baseball.com (20th) polls as well.
Florida State is one of six ACC programs ranked among the Perfect Game top 25 along with Louisville (2nd), Virginia (9th), Miami (11th), NC State (13th) and North Carolina (22nd).
