Seminoles Shoot Low Round of the Day at Camp Creek

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Graduate transfer Vincent Norrman was the standout player for the Florida State men’s golf team at Camp Creek Golf Club on Monday. His effort helped the Seminoles shoot a 9-under 279 in the second round, the low team round of the afternoon at the Camp Creek Seminole Invitational.

The Stockholm, Sweden, native and Georgia Southwestern transfer was able to record a 4-under 68 in the second round and push the Seminoles into a tie for second place (-12) going into Tuesday’s final round in Watersound, Fla. FSU trails Wake Forest (-14) by two strokes and is tied with Clemson.

“This has been an interesting week for us coming in. We didn’t really know what we had with our team,” FSU Head Coach Trey Jones said. “I’m confident in who we had but we didn’t really know how it would come together. And we still don’t know. It’s a new group.

“Vincent Norrman has never hit a shot for Florida State before, as well as Connor Futrell and Brett Roberts. When you start three out of five who have never played for Florida State, you have some uncertainties there. From what I’ve seen, I’ve really liked. I liked it before we got here, and I like it now. This team has a lot of guts and talent, and that’s a great combination.”

Norrman put together another great round that led all Noles on Monday. Shooting five birdies and only one bogey on the day, his 4-under (72-68) score after two rounds puts him tied for third on the player leaderboard.

FSU’s aggregate score of 564 (285-279) is the third-lowest two-round team score in program history. It also hasn’t had any players shoot worse than 1-over 73 in a round for the second straight day.

Redshirt senior Greyson Porter is another player for the Seminoles who has performed well these past two days. He is the only FSU player to post under par on both rounds this week and currently sits tied for seventh on the leaderboard at 3-under (71-70).

“Senior captain Greyson Porter goes out every day and leads by example. Now he’s starting to put some scores up to match that,” Jones added.

Seniors John Pak and Connor Futrell had solid rounds today with both of them sitting at 2-under after two rounds. Freshman Brett Roberts also played well after shooting even-par today and is 1-over (73-72) so far in the tournament.

Redshirt sophomore Cole Anderson, an individual-based player that’s not attached to FSU in the tournament, also continues to thrive as he carded a 1-over 73 in the second round and 4-under (67-73) over the past two days. He joins Norrman as tied for third overall, trailing only Clemson’s Jacob Bridgeman (-14) and North Carolina’s Peter Fountain (-8) on the player leaderboard.

All six FSU golfers once again found themselves placed in the top 25 on the leaderboard after the second day of competition, with five of them placing in the top nine spots.

The third and final round of the Camp Creek Seminole Invitational starts Tuesday at 8 a.m. CT. You can follow the leaderboard for the tournament on golfstat.com.
