TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 7 Florida State soccer team (7-0-2) defeated No. 14 Clemson (5-3-2) on Sunday afternoon at the Seminole Soccer Complex. The 3-1 win capped off the Seminoles’ ACC home opening weekend and improved their ACC record to 3-0. The Seminoles’ unbeaten streak grows to 18, taking the spot as the second longest in school history.
Jody Brown was the catalyst for the offense today, picking up a career-high five points with two goals and one assist. Cristina Roque and the Seminole defense were solid the full 90 minutes, allowing only one goal from a penalty kick.
Brown put the Seminoles up early in the 6th minute, finishing off a cross from Onyi Echegini. Clara Robbins slotted a ball through the Tiger defense to Echegini on the left side of the goal box. Echegini turned on the end line and chipped it up to Brown in the box. Brown rocketed the ball into the back of the net, scoring the Seminoles’ fourth goal of the season in under 10 minutes.
