Assistant Coach/Director of Player Development

Chris Kent enters his second season as Florida State's Director of Player Development, bringing more than a decade of collegiate and professional coaching experience to the Seminoles.

In his first season with the program, Kent helped Florida State to an 18-15 record and a 10-8 mark in ACC action. The Seminoles gained momentum throughout the 2025-26 season, winning seven of their final eight games and 10 of their final 12 contests, highlighted by a school-record five consecutive ACC road victories, before narrowly falling 80-79 to No. 1-ranked Duke in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals.

Working closely with the coaching staff, Kent aided in the development of Florida State's student-athletes, including Robert McCray V, who earned All-ACC Third Team honors as selected by the league's coaches, and Lajae Jones, who was selected by the Golden State Warriors with the 54th overall pick in the second round of the 2026 NBA Draft.

Kent returned to Florida State after spending two seasons as an assistant coach with the Rip City Remix, the Portland Trail Blazers' NBA G League affiliate, from 2023-25.

Prior to his time in Portland, Kent served as an assistant coach for the Windy City Bulls during the 2022-23 season after previously working as the Chicago Bulls' video coordinator following a coaching internship with the organization during the 2018-19 season.

Kent began his coaching career as an assistant coach with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA D-League from 2013-15 before joining Florida State as a graduate assistant from 2015-17. He then served as Director of Player Development at the University of South Florida from 2017-18.

Kent played collegiate basketball for two seasons at Huntington University and two seasons at Trine University, bringing valuable playing experience and a player-first perspective to his coaching career.
