ORLANDO, Fla. – Sunshine Network is poised to premiere two full hours of live
local Florida sports news each weeknight with the debut of the new

The two local sports news shows are Sunshine Network’s most ambitious
undertaking in original programming since the network elected to devote
itself entirely to regional and local sports from Florida this past

In an era where sports news coverage is decreasing on local television
stations, Sunshine Network will boast Florida’s largest all-sports
television newsgathering operation with a combination of 30 full-time
reporters/anchors and part-time contributors positioned across the state.
These reporters, many of whom have been covering their local teams for
many years and have built strong community ties, will offer fans an inside
perspective on their local teams each weeknight for a full two hours. In
addition, Sunshine Network has partnered with the Florida News Channel to
provide fiber optic links across Florida and studio access in each major
market in the state for its news reports.

SUNSHINE NETWORK LIVE!, which began airing in 1999 and has enjoyed growing
success, will move from 10 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday-Friday beginning
September 18. FLORIDA SPORTS NEWS will air from 10-11 p.m. weeknights,
also beginning September 18.

Beginning next month, weeknights on Sunshine Network will kick off at 6:30
p.m. with a full hour of live, local sports news, features and in-depth
interviews on the newly designed SUNSHINE NETWORK LIVE! program, the
network’s most successful original series. Hosted from studios located in
Florida by the network’s popular and entertaining sports duo – Pat Clarke
and Charles Davis – the one-hour program will, on most nights, lead into
the network’s primetime professional or collegiate game telecast and
include live on-site pre-game reports for fans statewide. SUNSHINE
NETWORK LIVE! will set itself apart from the new FLORIDA SPORTS NEWS by
emphasizing in-depth features, interviews and analysis.

Airing live at 10 p.m. and providing viewers with their first,
comprehensive look at the night’s local sports from across the state,
FLORIDA SPORTS NEWS, is the newest addition to Sunshine Network’s strong
local lineup. Longtime Florida sports commentators Barry Milligan and Tom
Block will host the one-hour program. With scores and highlights from
across the state, as well as a running ticker, FLORIDA SPORTS NEWS will,
on most nights, lead out of the network’s primetime pro or collegiate game
with complete post-game wrap-ups from each event site as well as live
reports from other games/events going on that night.

With Sunshine’s vast production and talent resources, Florida sports
fans will have access to comprehensive local sports news — not just the
same soundbite or clip available everywhere else. For example, on Friday
nights during football season, Sunshine Network may have as many as 17
cameras at high school games across the state gathering highlights for the
network’s weekly high school programs. Those exclusive clips/interviews
can be accessed by the producers of SUNSHINE NETWORK LIVE! and FLORIDA
SPORTS NEWS and be coupled with analysis from the network’s high school
expert, Sean Alveshire. With more than 17 local teams and properties
under contract, Sunshine Network is in position to blanket the state and
offer the area’s most complete sports news coverage.

According to Corporate VP and GM Jim Liberatore, the network
believes its mission is to set itself apart and remain true to what
regional sports networks were originally designed to be – regional and
local – with no mandate to carry national sports programming, which is
available on several other sports networks. It was with that theory in
mind that Sunshine Network created its first local sports news and
features program, SUNSHINE NETWORK LIVE!, in 1999 and is now creating

“Local sports news is programming Sunshine Network believes it is
uniquely positioned to provide sports fans in Florida,” said Liberatore.
“We have the talent, local team partnerships and production resources
necessary to provide a high-quality product and the autonomy to customize
it to our viewers’ needs. With the synergies created from our website,
our radio shows, our television network and more, the Sunshine Network
brand is becoming synonymous with Florida sports. This expansion of our
local sports news programming is an extension of our commitment to
providing our viewers, advertisers and cable system affiliates the very
best in local sports on all levels.”

Sunshine Network is Florida’s largest and leading regional sports network
and, without a national sports network affiliation, is the state’s only
sports network devoting its entire schedule to local programming. With
over 5.2 million homes and more than 17 teams/properties under contract,
Sunshine Network is the Florida sports fans’ first and only source for
comprehensive coverage of sports in the Sunshine State. For further
