Three Noles Win Titles at South Carolina Indoor Open

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Florida State track and field team went three-for-three today at the UofSC Indoor Open on Friday as Jacore Irving, Jeremiah Davis and Alonie Sutton each won individual titles.

Davis started the day off on a high note for the Noles in the long jump. Davis posted a season-best mark of 7.70m to win the event. Davis’ mark is the fifth-best mark in the ACC this season.

“It was a great day for Jeremiah. We haven’t had him this healthy in awhile, and now he has put himself in position to possibly make nationals,” Head Coach Bob Braman said.

Irving continued to be consistent for the Noles in the triple jump. Irving posted a mark of 15.44m to win the event by a full 1.4m.

“Jacore is very consistent and steady. You know what you are going to get out of him. I think he is due for a big week at the ACC Indoor Championships,” Braman said.

Sutton got back on track in the triple jump with a leap of 12.75m to win the event. The mark was just 0.1m off her season best.

“Alonie had a really good jump today,” Braman said. “She is continuing to climb back to the level she was at last year. She has a chance to get over 13m and qualify for nationals.”

The Noles will be back in action next week for the ACC Indoor Championships in Blacksburg, Va. Competition begins Thursday with the heptathlon, pentathlon and the distance medley relay. Friday’s and Saturday’s action will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
