⚾️: Tibbs Hits Sixth HR of Season

ORLANDO, Florida – James Tibbs III was 3-for-4 Tuesday, with two RBI and his sixth home run of the season, but Florida State fell at UCF 6-3 Wednesday night. Tibbs is hitting .393 and leads FSU in RBI and runs scored.

The Knights led 6-0 after the fourth inning, scoring five runs in the fourth against the Seminole bullpen. Ryan Denison allowed one run in his first career start.

FSU fought back with two runs in the fifth and Tibbs’ home run in the eighth, but could not plate a run in the ninth to extend the game.

  • James Tibbs III was 3-for-4 with two singles and his team-high sixth home run of the season. He has reached safely in 10 consecutive games and 59 of his 62 career starts; he leads FSU with 20 RBI and 28 runs scored.
  • Treyton Rank hit his second triple of the season and fourth of his career. The Seminoles have nine three-baggers on the year, one shy of its combined total from 2021 (3) and 2022 (7).
  • Rank and Tibbs each had three hits, combining for six of FSU’s eight in the game.
  • Jaime Ferrer led off the fourth inning with an infield single. He has an eight-game hitting streak, his longest of the year and the longest active streak on the team.
  • Freshman RHP Ryan Denison made his first career start. He is the sixth Seminole to make his first career start on the mound this season.
  • David Barrett set career-highs with 3.0 innings pitched and three strikeouts. Joe Charles made his first appearance in over a year after recovering from Tommy John surgery; he struck out a batter in 1.0 scoreless innings.
