TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida State head coach Chris Poole has announced the 2019 volleyball schedule on Wednesday, which includes five matches against teams that finished in the Top 15 of the 2018 AVCA rankings, as well as 11 total matches versus teams that competed in the 2018 NCAA Volleyball Championships.
The Seminoles will play all other 14 conference schools during the regular season, including two matches each against 2018 ACC Champion Pitt, Duke, Miami and North Carolina.
“I’m very excited about our schedule again this year,” said Poole. “We always strive to play a strong non-conference schedule and the ACC is getting stronger every year from top to bottom. There are no easy matches in the ACC and we finish the season with very strong competition. Our non-conference matches will give us a strong competition to prepare us for conference. We will be adding 10 players to the team this year that the fans did not see play last season, including two redshirt freshmen and eight newcomers. We are excited for the challenge.”
The Seminoles will begin the season against a pair of Top 10 teams in No. 8 Wisconsin and No. 7 Minnesota at the ACC/Big Ten Volleyball Challenge on August 30-31 in Chapel Hill, N.C. FSU will face the Badgers on Friday, and the Gophers on Saturday, with both matches at 3:30 p.m.
