TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Virginia freshman Darci Borski provided the game-winner for the Cavaliers as she scored seven minutes into overtime, leading the Cavaliers to a win in their third consecutive overtime contest. With the win, the Cavaliers improve to 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in the ACC while the Seminoles fall to 2-2 and 0-1 in the conference.
After a scoreless first half, the Cavaliers struck twice within a minute to take a 2-0 lead in the 61st minute. Cavalier freshman Lindsay Grubbs came off the bench to score on an open goal, and a minute later Borski scored on a great individual effort.
But the Seminoles stormed back, scoring three goals in a sixteen minute span, including two in a minute, to take a 3-2 lead with four minutes remaining in regulation. But the Cavalier bench came through again as Breanne Smith scored on a 25-yard strike to tie the game at 3-3 and send the contest into overtime. In the overtime, Borski connected for her second goal to give the Cavaliers the win.
The Cavaliers outshot the Seminoles 18-8 and also had the advantage in corner kicks, 10-3.
