TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Senior Deyna Castellanos earned her second ACC Player of the Week honor this season, taking home ACC Offensive Player of the Week. Castellanos helped lead the Seminoles to a win over No. 9 Duke in the ACC regular-season finale and a 2-1 win over No. 22 Clemson in the first round of the ACC Tournament.
Castellanos scored the game’s only goal against Duke in the 78th minute on a strike from 30 yards out into the upper left corner. The goal moved her into a tie for second place all-time in points at Florida State with 111 and into a tie for first in all-time game-winning goals with 19.
Castellanos would go on to record a goal and an assist against No. 22 Clemson in the ACC Tournament quarterfinal in Tallahassee to move into sole possession of second place on the all-time points list at FSU (114). Her goal came off a corner kick as she curled it into the back post for the game’s first goal. She then assisted on the Seminoles game-winner on a perfect cross to Jaelin Howell who headed it into the back of the net.
Florida State takes on No. 1 Virginia this Friday, November 8 at 2:30. The ACC Semifinal match is at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. Tickets can be bought for the semifinal match here. Single-day adult general admission tickets are $10. Admission is free for youth ages 18 and under, as well as students of ACC institutions. For those who cannot make it, the match will be live on the ACC Network.
