CORAL GABLES, Fla. – In its final regular-season road game, the No. 22 Florida State soccer team defeated rival Miami 2-0 on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Cobb Stadium in Coral Gables, Florida.

The Seminoles (9-2-3, 5-1-2 ACC) collected their fifth win in the last six games and are unbeaten in nine of their last 10. The shutout is the team's sixth of the season and fifth on the road. With one game to play in the regular season, FSU has moved up to fourth place in the ACC.

Florida State took an early lead just over two minutes into the game and doubled the advantage in the 72nd minute. The Hurricanes (10-4-3, 4-3-2 ACC), tied with FSU in the league standings entering the game, were held to just one shot after they had 53 combined in the last three games and a low of 15 in that span.

Sophomore midfielder Nawreen Ahmad gave the Seminoles a 1-0 lead just 135 seconds into the game, and junior forward Wrianna Hudson made it 2-0 in the 72nd minute. Ahmad scored her first goal of the season, the 11th different player to find the back of the net in 2026, and Hudson notched her team-leading sixth goal. It was Ahmad's third career score, and first game-winner, and the 30th goal of Hudson's career.

Senior midfielder Joelle Jung assisted on Ahmad's goal for her third assist of 2026 and 17th of her career. Junior forward Shaneil Buckley got the assist on Hudson's goal, her third of the year and of her NCAA D-I tenure. Jung and Buckley both are tied for second on the team with their three assists on the campaign.

Senior midfielder Ashley Henderson had a game-high three shots and Buckley and Hudson each had two shots, both on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Kate Ockene did not have to make a save as she improved to 8-2-3 in 2026 and earned her fifth clean sheet. Miami's goalkeeper made four saves.

The Seminoles out-shot the Hurricanes 10-1 including 6-0 on target. Corners were 9-2 for the visitors and fouls were 12-11 for UM. Three cards were shown, one yellow to each team and a red to a Miami player in the 53rd minute.

Florida State improves to 22-4-0 all-time against Miami and 10-3-0 on the road. FSU has won seven in a row, with a 16-1 margin of victory in that streak, highlighted by shutouts in the last five contests. The Seminoles are victorious in all but two meetings since the first win in 2000.

Miami's only shot of the game came in the second minute, a chance forced wide.

Ahmad gave the Seminoles the early lead at 2:15. Near the FSU bench and with a defender closing in, Jung served the ball into the penalty box to Ahmad, who was at the edge of the goal area. Unmarked, Ahmad received the ball out of the air and put it in off her thigh to the left of Miami's keeper.

FSU's next chance didn't come until the 20th minute, a shot saved from freshman forward Ryder Ajeto. Another save was made in the 28th minute from Buckley.

Henderson's first shot in the 36th minute was the final opportunity of the opening half.

The visitors had a 4-1 advantage in shots and a 3-0 edge in shots on goal in the first half. Corners were 6-2 for the Seminoles.

Hudson almost made it 2-0 in the 55th minute, but her shot was saved. An off-target opportunity in the 66th minute preceded Hudson's goal that did indeed double the lead to 2-0 at 71:10.

After dribbling towards the endline and one-on-one with her defender, Buckley sent a centering pass to Hudson. With a defender on her heels, Hudson spun and fired a right-footed shot from near the penalty spot to the left corner past a diving Miami goalkeeper.

Buckley had another shot saved one minute later, and the Seminoles had two more chances go wide in the final seven minutes of regulation.

The visitors had six shots, three on goal, in the final 45 minutes and did not allow a shot. Corners were 3-0 to Florida State.

The Seminoles conclude the regular season at home on Thursday, November 5, vs. Virginia Tech. The 6:30 p.m. ET contest is the team's Seminole Heritage game and Senior Night. Tickets are available at Seminoles.com/Tickets or by calling the FSU Athletics Ticket Office at 850-644-1830. Admission is free for all FSU students with their Unconquered Pass.
