TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State senior diver Joshua Davidson was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Men’s At-Large Academic All-District Team on Thursday.
The 2020-21 Academic All-District® Men’s At-Large Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early August.
“This year was very tough on everyone,” FSU head diving coach John Proctor said. “Our team really stepped up and took care of business both in the pool and in the classroom. Josh has always been a tremendous student. He’s an incredible leader and he sets the standard for what we want to see out of our student-athletes. He is very deserving of this and I’m very proud of him.”
Davidson earns the honor for the third time in his career, joining the 10-man squad for district four, which includes student-athletes from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico and South Carolina. He is the only diver in school history to accomplish the feat three times.
The Tomball, Texas, native, holds a 3.94 GPA in mechanical engineering. He earned his fourth CSCAA Academic All-America honor and was also named to his fourth All-ACC Academic Team.
As a team captain, Davidson qualified for his fourth NCAA Championships, was named the diving team MVP after taking sixth on 1-meter at the ACC Championships. He was also the ACC Diver of the Week this season.
Davidson will return for 2021-22 and will serve another season as team captain.
