TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Redshirt freshman catcher Michaela Edenfield was named the ACC’s Co-Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Edenfield finished the week 6-for-14 with a .429 batting average and a 1.143 slugging percentage to lift Florida State to a 5-0 record last week, highlighted by an ACC sweep against Virginia. She recorded 10 RBI, scored six runs, walked six times and hit three home runs.
Hailing from Sneads, Florida, Edenfield tallied an RBI in all five games with three apiece in games one and two of the series with the Cavaliers. She went 2-for-2 with two home runs and two intentional walks in the first game against Virginia and hit her third home run of the week in game two. She currently leads the ACC and ranks fifth nationally with 15 home runs. She also ranks ninth nationally and second in the conference with 43 RBI
No. 3 Florida State heads to Gainesville tomorrow to take on the seventh-ranked Gators for the first time this season. The game is at 6 PM and will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
Florida leads the all-time series 28-18 but the two teams have split their last eight meetings.
Florida State is a perfect 6-0 against ranked teams this season with a 5-0 record at the St. Pete Clearwater Elite Invitational and a 6-5 win in Tuscaloosa, Ala. against No. 4 Alabama.
FSU heads into the game with the nation’s best fielding percentage (.988) and third in the country in ERA with a 1.28 ERA as a team.
