Women’s Hoops Begins Three-Game Homestand vs. Stetson

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Seminoles return to the Donald L. Tucker Center for a three-game homestand, beginning with a matchup vs. Stetson on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 2 p.m.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Florida State’s Sunday tilt with Stetson marks the start of its longest homestand of the season with three consecutive games at the Donald L. Tucker Center. FSU follows by hosting Texas Southern on Dec. 11 and facing Presbyterian on Dec. 15.
- The Seminoles are coming off a 92-87 win on the road at Wisconsin on Thursday, marking 10 consecutive wins in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. FSU won every matchup in the challenge since 2012.
- Freshman guard Ta’Niya Latson delivered another clutch performance, scoring 27 points in the win over the Badgers while adding seven assists and five rebounds. She scored 10 of her 27 points in a critical fourth quarter where FSU needed to hang on for the win.
- FSU looks to move to 3-0 this season against Florida schools. Entering Sunday, the Seminoles are 48-9 vs. opponents from the Sunshine State over the past 57 games. FSU has defeated Bethune-Cookman (113-50) and Florda (92-77) so far this year.
- Sophomore forward Makayla Timpson is emerging as one of the best post players in the ACC. The Edison, Ga., native enters Sunday’s matchup vs. Stetson with three consecutive double-doubles.
- Florida State is averaging 85.8 points per game this season. In five of their nine games played, FSU has scored 80 or more points.
- Graduate guard Jazmine Massengill has recorded just one turnover over her last four games played. In that span, she has logged 130 minutes and eight seconds of court time with just one miscue while adding 15 assists.
- Over the last 11 seasons, the Seminoles have totaled a 128-33 record vs. non-conference opponents (.795).
- Over the last 19 seasons, FSU owns a 418-171 overall record (.710).
- FSU once again dominated in the paint in its recent win over Wisconsin, outscoring the Badgers 44-26 inside.
- Ta’Niya Latson has shot 50 percent or better in six of her nine games played. Over her last three games, she is shooting 57.7 percent (26-of-45) from the floor.
- Valencia Myers scored nine of her 15 points at Wisconsin in the second half. Her hustle plays down the stretch of a tight game created extra possessions for the Seminoles.
- Florida State is one of eight current programs to make the Big Dance each of the last nine post-seasons, joining Baylor, Louisville, Maryland, South Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee and UConn.
- FSU is 6-0 this season when leading at the half.
- FSU dropped 30 points in the second quarter last game at Wisconsin, shooting 83.3 percent (10-of-12). Its best scoring quarter of the season is the third where it averages 23.8 points.
- Latson has 20 or more points in eight of her nine games played this season.
- Over the last four games FSU has combined to outscore its opponents 168-102 in the paint.
- Sophomore Mariana Valenzuela is 7 of her last 9 from beyond the arc.
- FSU’s 51.6 percent shooting from the floor last game at Wisconsin was its best shooting performance of the season.
- Over her last six games played, Makayla Timpson is averaging 13.0 points, 10.2 rebounds and is shooting 61.9 percent from the floor.
- Myers recently moved into a tie for 19th on the FSU career list for games played with 121.
- Over FSU’s last two games it is shooting 41.5 percent (17-of-41) from the three-point line.
