Maddie Anderson and Brook Bauer Earn AVCA Pair of the Week

Tallahassee, Fla. – For the first time this season, a Florida State pairing has earned AVCA Pair of the Week Honors. Maddie Anderson and Brook Bauer were named AVCA Pair of the Week following a 5-0 weekend against four top-20 ranked teams.
Anderson and Bauer became the fifth pair at Florida State to earn AVCA Pair of the Week honors. They are currently 22-5 on the season.
The pair went undefeated on the weekend at the FSU’s Unconquered Invitational. All five of their wins came on court one against TAMUCC, No. 5 LSU, No. 2 TCU, No. 15 FIU, and No. 19 Stetson.
On day one of the Unconquered Invitational, the duo won all matches in two sets apiece. Anderson and Bauer outscored their opponents 127 to 84. Against Texas A&M Corpus Christi, the pair shut down the Islanders allowing only seven points in the first set and 14 in the second.
In the second match of the day, Anderson and Bauer defeated No. 5 LSU for the second time this season. The pair blew past the Tigers 21-14 in the first set and sealed the win 22-20 in the second set, earning the first match point for the Seminoles 4-1 win over LSU.
Anderson and Bauer wrapped up the day with a win over No. 2 TCU. The pair earned the first match-point for the Seminoles, fighting back from a deficit in the first set to win 21-17. In the second set, they dominated keeping the lead throughout and winning 21-12.
The following day, the pair defeated No. 15 FIU in three sets. The duo dropped the first set 21-18 before they found their groove in the second and third sets. FIU kept it close, but ultimately Anderson and Bauer sealed the win 21-18 in the second set and 15-10 in the third set.
In Bauer’s final match at home, the pair defeated Stetson 21-14, 21-15. For the third time this weekend, the pair earned the first match point for the Seminoles holding Stetson to only 14 points in the first set and 15 in the second.
This is the first time that this pair has earned AVCA Pair of the Week honors. The duo won CCSA Pair of the Week on March 23, 2022.
