June 29, 2001

On Monday, Joe Mauer, 18, a Florida State football signee and the No. 1 pick in the 2001 MLB Draft, will drop by to take your questions on his future.

Mauer, a 6’4?, 205 pound two-sport star from Cretin-Derham Hall High School in St. Paul, Minnesota, was taken with the top pick in the MLB Draft by his hometown Minnesota Twins, but Mauer also has an offer to quarterback at Florida State, following in the footsteps of fellow Cretin-Derham Hall graduate Chris Weinke, who also just happened to excel at baseball.

Mauer led his school to state championships in football and basketball as a junior and again in baseball as a senior. Just recently, he was named USA Today’s High School Athlete of the Year in both baseball and football, the first time one athlete has been named in two sports.

Mauer won’t be stopping by until 3 p.m. ET on Monday but feel free to leave your questions now and we will save them for his arrival.
