Florida State Men’s Golf Team Ranked 25th Nationally

TALLAHASSE, Fla. –
The Florida State men’s golf team, which begins play in the NCAA East Regional Championship Thursday, is ranked 25th in the final national Golf Week / Nike poll of the spring 2007 season. After an impressive spring campaign the Seminoles are one of five ACC teams in the final poll and are joined by conference counterparts Clemson (11), Georgia Tech (13), Wake Forest (21) and North Carolina (22) among the top teams in men’s college golf.
Under fourth-year Head Coach Trey Jones, the Seminoles have made incredible strides and are playing in their second consecutive regional championship. The Seminoles enter the regional championship looking to advance to the NCAA Championship final round for the first time since 1996. The Seminoles travel to the event with the same five starters that earned them a recent tie for fourth at the ACC Championship and a third place finish at the Linger Longer Invitational.
The University of Georgia remains the top ranked team in the nation, after finishing sixth at the 2007 SEC Championship and winning the Linger Longer Invitational on Monday. The Seminoles will join the Bulldogs at upcoming NCAA East Regional at the Golf Club of Georgia from May 17-20.
The Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches Poll combines the resources of Gold World Magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).The complete results will be released in the May 18th issue of Golf World. It can be viewed online at www.golfworld.com/menspoll.
