Gold Sweeps Garnet to Wrap Up Preseason Scrimmages

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State volleyball team hosted their annual Garnet vs. Gold scrimmage on Saturday (8/18) afternoon, as the Gold team won the seven-set decision over the Garnet team.
Fans were able to see the 2018 Seminoles for the first time this weekend, as the team hosted both an intrasquad scrimmage and an exhibition game against South Alabama. The Seminoles were able to try out potential starting lineups against the Jaguars, while fans were given their first chance to see all 17 players on the roster in action in Saturday’s scrimmage.
“What I loved about today was that each player was able to get a lot of playing time,” said head coach Chris Poole. “We were able to see every player in different situations, and I think it went really well. I’m proud of how hard everyone worked this weekend, we have a tough schedule coming up.”
Florida State opens the season next week in Minneapolis, facing No. 4 Minnesota and No. 9 Wisconsin in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The team’s first home match is set for September 7th as the Seminoles take on the Virginia Commonwealth Rams.
