Orlando, FL – Seminole senior Petra Hule has advanced to the ITA National Fall Championships by virtue of her appearance in the finals of the ITA Southeastern Regionals. Hule, seeded 12th in the regional, recorded four wins including two over top 10 seeds to advance to the final. She is the first Seminole singles player to ever advance to the final site of the ITA National Fall Championships.

Hule opened the regional with a straight set win over Mary Courville of Mercer. The Australian native then defeated Georgia Tech’s Mahak Jain in straight sets to move into the round of 16. Hule upset Georgia’s Morgan Coppoc, seeded ninth in the field, 6-3, 6-3 to move into the quarterfinals where she defeated Marie Mattel of UCF in three sets. Hule pulled off another upset in the semis fighting back after dropping the first set to defeat eighth-seeded Evgeniya Levashova of UCF and advancing to the final. Hule’s run came to a close with a 6-1, 7-5 loss to Georgia freshman Mell Reasco.

The ITA National Fall Championships begin November 4 in San Diego, CA and will feature 32 of the nation’s top women’s collegiate players. In 2006, FSU sent a doubles team to the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships but never has an FSU student-athlete advanced to women’s nationals in singles play.
