Mullarkey Wins ACC Performer of the Week

Tallahassee, Fla.- Â Florida State's David Mullarkey was named the ACC Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week on Tuesday. Mullarkey finished fifth in the men's 5-mile race at the Joe Piane Invitational at 23:24.8 and was also the first runner from an ACC school to cross the finish line.

Mullarkey led the Seminoles to a second-place finish with a total of 95 points, just eight behind No. 9 Notre Dame. FSU knocked off three ranked teams in the process, finishing ahead of No. 21 NC State (174), No. 27 Alabama (114) and No. 28 Montana State (256). Â Â

It was the best finish for the men's team at the historic meet since 2011, when FSU also placed second.

Mullarkey was the third different runner to lead FSU this season and second to take home Performer of the Week honors. Abdirizak Ibrahim won the 8K at the Firetower Project Run and was named ACC Performer of the Week and Matthew Neill took home the title in the 8k at the Covered Bridge Open.

USTFCCCA Polls
The men's team jumped up to No. 2 in the South Region and are now ranked No. 19 nationally. It is the highest ranking for the team since week five of 2021.

The women are ranked fifth in the South Region.

FSU will compete at the Alabama Invitational and the Nuttycombe Invitational in two weeks on Oct. 13.
