Tallahassee, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The nationally-ranked Florida State Men's Golf team got off to a blistering start at the Jackson Stephens Cup, sitting atop the leaderboard at 36-under as it nears completion of the second round of stroke play held at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas.
Play was halted late in the second round due to darkness. Florida State has three holes remaining in the round. In the seven-team field, FSU currently has a 10-stroke lead over SMU (-26), followed by San Diego State (-24), LSU (-22), Arizona (-20), Stanford (-19) and Arkansas (-16).
Gray Albright leads the field at -10 (65-69), completing both rounds. He is trying to follow up on his Seminole Intercollegiate title he won last season at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club. Albright had a stretch on the back nine in his opening round where he birdied six of seven holes.
Cole Anderson is right behind Albright and tied for second at -9 (68) as he needs to finish one more hole to complete his second round. Anderson recorded an impressive 12 birdies on the day.
Brett Roberts is tied for fifth at -8 (69) and has three holes left to finish on Tuesday in the second round. Frederik Kjettrup and Luke Clanton are each tied for seventh at -7.
The tournament format includes 54 holes of stroke play to set the field for the final day of match play, which will be 18 holes.
Fans can catch Tuesday's stroke play rounds on the GOLF Channel from 4-7 p.m. ET.
