TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Three members of the Florida State Women's Golf team – Alice Hodge, Kaylah Williams, and Lottie Woad -- have been named to the 2023 All-American Scholar Team as named by the Women's Golf Coaches Association.  It marks the fourth consecutive year, and sixth time in the last seven seasons, that at least three Seminoles have been named to the most prestigious of the teams named by the WGCA.  Florida State's three selections marks the 10th consecutive year at least one Seminole golfer has been named as a national academic standout.

Hodge (3.769 GPA during the spring of 2023) was named to the All-America Scholar Team for the third consecutive season, while Williams (3.692 GPA in the spring of 2023) was named for the second consecutive season.  Hodge is the seventh player in school history to be named to the team three or more times.  She joins a select group including Whitney Brummett (four honors), Alison Curdt (three), Amanda Doherty (four), Caroline Larsson (four), Kim Metraux (four), Morgane Metraux (four) and Caroline Westrup (three) as Seminoles who have been honored academically throughout their careers.  Williams is now one of 17 players in school history to be honored multiple times as a member of the All-American Scholar Team.

"The All-American Scholar Team is my most favorite of the awards that the WGCA honors our student-athletes with each year," said Head Coach Amy Bond, herself a WGCA Scholar Team honoree in 1998.  "The requirement of having a 3.5 GPA or better is sometimes harder than becoming an All-American on the course.  The discipline, the sacrifices and the extra work each member of this team has to dedicate to their studies is incredible."

Florida State earned a cumulative team GPA of 3.560 in the spring season with four players (Hewlett, Hodge, Williams, and Cook) named to the Academic Dean's List.

Williams was named to the All-American Scholar Team for the second time in her career.  She has earned a cumulative GPA of 3.843 during the first two years of her career.  Williams is a three-time Academic Dean's List honoree, was named to the Academic President's List (4.0 GPA) during the spring of 2022 and is majoring in Psychology.

"The two most important things that allow me to excel in the classroom are time management and concentration on the tasks at hand," said Williams.  "The people and resources at Florida State are amazing; we have so many professors and academic professionals who sincerely care about our academic success as student-athletes.  Our coaches believe in us as people both on the course and when it comes to academics."

Williams played in a career-high eight events and earned a 75.79 stroke average during the 2022-23 fall and spring seasons.  She helped the Seminoles to team championships at the Schooner Fall Classic and the Florida State Match Up this season.

"We continue to do great things within our golf program at Florida State," said Bond.  "Our players are successful on the court and in the classroom.  We've finished in the top five at the National Championship Finals in both of the last two years.  We've won 10 tournaments in the last five years including two regionals.  But the most important aspect of our program to me is that we continue to earn academic success and make progress towards earning degrees.  Academics is the cornerstone of our program."

A total of 26 different Seminole golfers have been named to the WGCA Scholar Athlete team a total of 57 times (including Bond in 1998) since the honor was established in 1991.
