Volleyball Hosts Garnet and Gold Scrimmage, First Serve Party on Saturday

TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Fans can get their first glimpse of the 2023 Florida State Volleyball team this Saturday afternoon as it hosts the Garnet and Gold Scrimmage beginning at 2:30 p.m. at Tully Gym.
The scrimmage is free and open to the general public. Following the action at Tully, fans can attend the Florida State Volleyball First Serve Party organized by Seminole Boosters by registering here.
The First Serve Party will be held at the Dunlap Champions Club on fourth floor West beginning at 4:30 p.m. Parking is available in the University Center Lot B nearby the Unconquered Statue.
"The Garnet and Gold Scrimmage gives us another great opportunity to compete in a game atmosphere," head coach Chris Poole said. "We still have competition going on in several positions and need to find the best combination to start our season. We are excited to see our fans and to have the opportunity to play in front of them again."
Following the scrimmage, fans will have 14 more opportunities to watch the Seminoles play at Tully Gym in the regular season. FSU's home opener is on Friday, Sept. 1, against SMU at 6 p.m. as part of the Seminole Invitational.
Florida State begins the 2023 season at the Classic City Clash in Athens, Ga., on Friday, Aug. 25, vs. Western Carolina at 3 p.m. FSU follows with a match against tournament host Georgia on Saturday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m. on SEC Network+, then wraps up with Connecticut on Sunday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m.
The Seminoles have two Preseason All-ACC performers in junior middle blocker Khori Louis and junior outside hitter Audrey Koenig. FSU's 16-member roster also includes three Gatorade Players of the Year in sophomore outside hitter Audrey Rothman (Alabama), freshman outside hitter Kyleene Filimaua (Washington) and freshman setter Kenna Phelan (Arkansas).
FSU has made the NCAA Tournament in 13 of the past 14 seasons, going 19-11 last year and 11-7 in the ACC. The Seminoles were picked to finish tied for fourth in the league in 2023.
