Tallahassee, Fla.    –  Florida State cross country student-athletes captured ACC Performers of the Week on Tuesday following their performances at the Firetower Project Run on Friday.

Alyson Churchill won the women's 5K, leading the No. 23 Noles to a team with behind a tally of 33 points while Abdirizak Ibrahim brought home the win the men's 8k, helping No.29 FSU to a perfect score of 15 points for the victory.

Churchill ran the fastest 5k of her career, crossing the finish line with a time of 16:23.48 in first place, over one minute ahead of the second-place runner (17:44.42).

"This was a great opener for Aly," FSU head coach Cody Halsey said. "I think she's incredibly dedicated and to see that type of time and effort this early in the season sets her up to do some really big things when the time comes."

The Seminoles packed up in the men's race with Ibrahim leading the charge, crossing the line at 23:53.56. It was the first race for Ibrahim in the Garnet and Gold.

"That was a really strong race for Abdirizak," FSU men's head coach Bob Braman said. "Sub 24-minutes in a controlled opener is impressive."

Members of the women's team will compete at the Tallahassee Community College Open on Friday at 7:15 a.m., which will be held at the Apalachee Regional Park. Florida State will return to Boone on Sept. 15 to race in the Covered Bridge Open. Races will start at 10 a.m.
