TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Clemson's Chase Hunter scored 14 points, going perfect from both the field and the foul line, to help the visiting Tigers to a 78-67 win over Florida State at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
The Seminoles are now 5-2 in ACC play. Clemson is now 3-4 in league play.

I think we showed a little bit of our immaturity tonight, by not understanding that we have to turn it up a notch each and every time we play," said Seminole Head Coach Leonard Hamilton.

Darin Green Jr. scored the first basket of the game and from that point on, it was a back-and-forth battle for the lead for the conference rivals.

The Seminoles led for over 16 minutes in the first half, as Jalen Warley led the team in scoring with seven points, as well as earning his 100th career steal early in the half. However, the Tigers would not relent, as they managed to tie the score 30-30 right before the first half expired.

Junior guard Primo Spears also reached a career milestone, as he passed the 1,000-point mark for his career early in the second half. He is currently Florida State's third leading scorer on the season and finished tonight's game with 12 points, two rebounds and one assist.

Jamir Watkins led the Seminoles with 15 points. Just behind him in scoring were Green Jr. and Spears with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

All three, as well as the rest of the line-up, made a valiant effort for a comeback late in the game, but Clemson came out of halftime strong, building a sizable lead and keeping it just out of reach of Florida State for the entire second half.

"Today, Clemson was able to get the ball where they wanted to," said Hamilton. "They were able to put full-court pressure on us and I was getting the feeling that our players were not quite energized enough to contest the ball in the second half."

The Seminoles' defense won the turnover battle, earning 16 points off 15 Clemson turnovers over the course of the game.

"Hopefully what we can do is learn from this game and learn that for us to be successful, we have to be more consistent putting our hands up, getting deflections, forcing steals and shots, contesting shots and getting more rebounds," said Hamilton.

The Seminoles will now look forward, as they travel to the northern most post in the ACC as they play at Syracuse in the JMA Dome on Tuesday, January 23, at 7:00 p.m.
