Florida State Travels To Atlanta For ITA Southeast Regional Championships

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women's tennis team travels to Atlanta for the ITA Southeast Regional Championships beginning Thursday.
The tournament was originally set for October 10th-October 14th but was pushed back due to inclement weather.
The 34th-ranked duo of Millie Bissett and Maria Juliana Parra Romero are coming off three wins at the ITA All-American Championships. The pair defeated the 51st-ranked duo of Anet Koskel and Grace O'Donnell of Arkansas, Lindsay Zink and Susanna Maltby of North Carolina, and No. 23 Elza Tomase and Catherine Aulia of Tennessee.
Parra Romero, the nation's 113th-ranked singles player, secured her first win in singles as she defeated Valeria Ray of Vanderbilt 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. Junior Kristyna Lavickova is ranked No. 98 and Bissett is No. 120 in singles.
Sophomores Laura Putz, Maelie Monfils, and Cade Cricchio will be competing for the first time this season. Freshman Mary Boyce Deatherage will be making her Seminole debut.
The tournament begins October 17th and runs through October 22nd. Coverage of the tournament will be provided on Seminoles.com.
