TALLAHASSEE - Jared McCain led Duke with a career-high 35 points as he accounted for nearly half of Duke's point total as the Blue Devils defeated Florida State, 76-67 at the Donald L. Tucker Center. McCain and guard Jeremy Roach (17 points) were the only two Blue Devils who reached double figures in scoring as Duke held the Seminoles at arm's length for much of the second half to gain the win.

Florida State, which was led in scoring by junior Jamir Watkins with 15 points, got to within six points on two occasions midway through the second half but was unable to get any closer as Duke held on for the win.

McCain, a freshman guard for the Blue Devils, scored his career-high as he played in 39 minutes. He also earned a career-high three steals. McCain made eight of 11 3-point shots and 12 of 20 field goals in leading the Blue Devils to the victory.

"That's why you have to have a mindset on the defensive end, that you defend everybody with the highest level of focus," said Florida State Head Coach Leonard Hamilton.

Watkins led Florida State with 15 points and set a new career-high with four blocked shots. Limited with two fouls early in the game, he scored seven points in just eight minutes played in the first half.

The second half was a battle with Florida State inching ever so close to the Blue Devils making it a tight and exciting game.

"It's hard with Florida State because with them they switch everything," said Blue Devil Head Coach Jon Scheyer. "It's not like you can call plays all of the time. Credit Florida State with how they played on defense."

Cam Corhen scored 14 points and finished one rebound of a double-double with nine rebounds. He also blocked one shot.

Corhen continued to shoot the ball well from the field as he made seven of 10 field goal attempts. He is shooting .783 percent (36 of 46) in the last nine games and .661 percent (76 of 115) for the season.

Jalen Warley created great defensive pressure for the Seminoles and led the team with three steals. He scored four points with two points coming from the free throw line. Warley totaled a game-high five assists.

Florida State outscored Duke in many of the important statistical categories including points in the paint (40-26) and points off of the bench (32-5).

Florida State returns back to the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center on Tuesday February, 20 taking on the Boston College Eagles at 7:00 p.m.
