TALLAHASSEE – The No. 14 Florida State men's tennis team defeated Georgia State on Friday night and earned their fifth-straight victory.

The doubles round saw the Seminoles grab the early momentum as Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc and Joshua Dous-Karpenschif took a sound 6-3 victory on Court 1. The 14th-ranked duo in the country continued their early season success.

Youcef Rihane and Loris Pourroy enjoyed a similar taste as they downed their opponent 6-2 and claimed the doubles point. Alex Bulte and Azariah Rusher were level at 4-4 before the match was left unfinished.

Rihane was excellent in singles, dropping only one game in the match to mark one of his most dominant performances of the season.

After a 6-0, 6-0 sweep against Boston College, Pourroy continued his incredible form with a 6-1, 6-1 straight sets victory. Bulte matched the same scoreline as he only dropped two games. Both players completed their fifth-straight singles victory.

Dous-Karpenschif and Justin Lyons both dropped their first set but stormed back to force the third-set tiebreaker. Dous-Karpenschif was tied at 7-7 before rattling off three straight points to win the match and take back-to-back singles victories. Lyons lost the tiebreaker 12-10.

On Court 1, Cornut-Chauvinc was engaged in a back-and-forth affair, earning the first set 6-4 before facing a deadlock at 6-6. He buried any pressure and took care of business in the 7-4 tiebreaker to remain undefeated on the season.

Florida State now stands at 8-2 and continues their weekend slate with a match against South Alabama on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center.
