TALLAHASSEE – The No. 4 Florida State beach volleyball team will travel to Boca Raton to play No. 15 FAU and FGCU in the FAU Tournament on Tuesday. This will be the Seminoles' only match against FAU, and their second and last match against FGCU this season.
FSU is coming off a big weekend which saw the Noles defeat Houston Christian, No. 20 Tampa, Coastal Carolina, and FGCU all by the same 5-0 score in Tampa. The weekend was highlighted by a hard-fought victory over FGCU in which Maddie Anderson and Skyler Germann won court one in three sets, with the third set final being 31-29.
The Seminoles will open play Tuesday against FAU, whom they most recently defeated 3-2 in Tallahassee last April. The Owls are currently 8-3 with multiple wins over ranked opponents; notably defeating No. 12 Georgia State and No. 17 South Carolina.
FGCU is currently 9-5 after splitting the Tampa Invitational. The Eagles defeated Houston Christian 5-0 and Tampa 3-2. Florida State leads the all-time series with the Eagles, 5-0, with their first match dating back to March 2012 where the Seminoles swept the Eagles in Tallahassee.
The Seminoles will take the court against the Owls at 10 a.m., then again at 12:30 p.m. to play the Eagles.
