No. 14 Seminoles Handle Virginia Tech 6-1

TALLAHASSEE –The No. 14 Florida State men's tennis team rebounded with a resounding 6-1 victory over Virginia Tech on Friday afternoon.
The doubles round was clinical as Jamie Connel and Alex Bulte quickly took their match 6-2 while the No. 14 pairing in the nation, Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc and Jishua Dous-Karpenschif, battled through for a 6-4 scoreline to clinch the doubles point. Youcef Rihane and Loris Pourroy were locked at 5-5 before the match was left unfinished.
Rihane was dominant on the day as he shut out his opponent in the second set in route to a 6-4, 6-0 straight-sets win on Court 3.
Pourroy and Connel each worked through the first set before executing their play to a T with 6-3, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-1 wins, respectively. They finished within 30 seconds of one another to rapidly seal the match for the Seminoles.
Virginia Tech scores its only point with a win at No. 5 singles before freshman Azariah Rusher made his fifth singles appearance and took a 10-5 super tiebreaker victory in the third set to remain spotless in singles play in his career.
Cornut-Chauvinc battled hard as he claimed the first set tiebreaker before making a comeback in the second set to win his 15th match of the season, 7-6 (6), 7-5. The No. 4 player in the nation remains undefeated on the season at 15-0 .
Florida State is 14-4 and 4-2 in the ACC. The Seminoles will finish their two-week homestand with No. 4 Virginia on Sunday. Admission is free to all home tennis matches.
