Florida State Falls to No. 44 Duke

TALLAHASSEE – The No. 50 Florida State men's tennis team (12-12, 3-8 ACC) fell 4-3 to No. 44 Duke University (10-11, 5-6 ACC) on Friday at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.
Florida State picked up the first doubles decision as the new pair of Luis Felipe Miguel and Gabor Hornung defeated Duke's Pedro Rodenas and Gerard Planelles Ripoll 6-2. Justin Lyons and Mohammad Alkotop won their sixth straight match as a pair after securing the doubles point for the Seminoles with a 6-2 win on court two.
Lyons kicked off the singles slate with his 6-1, 6-3 win over Saahith Jayaraman win at the bottom of the order, before Duke got on the board on court two with a 6-3, 6-2 win over No. 120 Corey Craig from Florida State. Azariah Rusher responded with a victory on court five defeating Dylan Long 6-3, 7-6 (7). The Blue Devils added another point on court three as No. 93 Erik Schiessl dropped a three-set match against Ripoll. Duke evened the match on court one as No.50 Pedro delivered a thriller performance over No. 96 Miguel 7-6, 6-2, 7-5. Alexander Visser of Duke defeated Alkotop in a three-set battle to clinch the match.
Florida State will conclude its final home match on Sunday against No. 51 North Carolina for Senior day at 2:00 p.m.
