Miguel, Craig Capture Singles Victories in Final Home Match

TALLAHASSEE – The No. 50 Florida State men's tennis team (12-13, 4-8 ACC) closed out its final regular-season home match falling to No. 51 North Carolina (13-9, 6-6 ACC), 4-3.
Seniors Luis Felipe Miguel and Corey Craig capped off their final appearances at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center with victories in singles.
Florida State battled in doubles play, but North Carolina claimed the opening point with wins on court one and two. The Seminoles' duo of Gabor Hornung and Miguel claimed the lone victory on court three 6-2 in the opening round, before the Tar Heels clinched the doubles point.
At the top of the lineup in singles, No. 98 Miguel beat Chris Xu 6-0, 6-0 after recording the first double bagel of the season for Florida State. Hornung, competing from the bottom position, gave Florida State the lead. The Hungary native dominated the match, taking the first set 6-1 and closing it out in similar fashion with another 6-1 win in the second set.
No. 120 Craig gave Florida State the 3-2 advantage after upsetting the No. 58 player in the country Roan Jones in two-set decision. North Carolina responded back on court four after Justin Lyons dropped the match against Costantinos Djkouris. The Tar Heels continued to apply pressure to Florida State, ultimately taking the wins on court three and four to clinch the match.
Florida State will play its final road match of the regular season against Miami on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
