Florida State Falls To No. 4 Virginia In Semifinals Of ACC Championships

Cary, NC – The No. 3 seed Florida State women's tennis team (16-8) fell to the No. 2 seed and fourth-ranked Virginia (22-3) 4-0 in the semifinal round of the ACC Championships at the Cary Tennis Park.
The Cavaliers kicked off the match with a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles. The nation's 27th-ranked pair of Vic Allen and Millie Bissett responded with a 7-5 win over the No. 8-ranked Melodie Collard and Elaine Chervinsky at No. 1. This was the duo's highest ranked doubles win on the season. Virginia secured the doubles point with a win at No. 2 to take the 1-0 lead.
Allen responded with a 6-1 first-set victory against the 61st-ranked Annabelle Xu at No. 1 singles. Kristyna Lavickova followed with a 7-6 (6) first-set victory at No. 5 singles.
Virginia claimed victories on courts No. 6, No. 2 and No. 3 to earn the 4-0 victory.
Florida State enters the NCAA Tournament as one of the best teams in the nation over the past month. The Seminoles have won nine of their last 11 matches, with the only two losses in that stretch to the Cavaliers. FSU will find out its postseason destination during the NCAA Tournament Selection Show on April 29.
