Noles Drop Tuesday Game at Stetson

Matt Sauser and Conner Whittaker each gave up a pair of solo home runs in the second inning as Stetson ran out to a 4-0 lead, but FSU clawed back to tie the contest in the top of the sixth inning. James Tibbs III cut into Stetson's lead with a lead-off home run in the fourth inning; Tibbs added a second home run in the ninth inning, the 50th of his career and 23rd of the season.
The Noles scored three runs in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 4-4, but Stetson scored five runs against four FSU pitchers in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good.
Yoel Tejeda Jr. (1-1) pitched three scoreless innings before a leadoff home run to start the sixth inning. His 3.1 innings pitched were his most as a Seminole.

OF NOTE:
- James Tibbs III hit his 22nd and 23rd home runs of the season, tied for 10th-most in a season in school history and the most since Mat Nelson led the country with 23 in 2021. His 50 career home runs are tied for 6th-most at FSU.
- Tibbs has five multi-home run games this season.
- Tibbs' eight-game on-base streak is the longest on the team; Alex Lodise was hit by a pitch and has reached safely in seven straight games.
- Cam Smith had two hits and has six over his last two games. He is now hitting .391 on the season, best on the team; his 27 multi-hit games are also best on the team.
- Jordan Williams tied the game with a two-out double in the sixth inning, his second RBI and second double of the season.
- Florida State has a home run in 24 of the past 25 games.
- Despite the loss, Yoel Tejeda Jr. pitched a season-high 3.1 innings for the Seminoles.
- FSU fell to 14-1 against in-state opponents this season.

Thanks to the hard work of many people following last week's tornados in Tallahassee, Florida State will be able to host Georgia Tech at Dick Howser Stadium beginning Thursday. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. and all three games of the series will be on ACCNX.
