LAS VEGAS -  Jennifer Coleman, who is in her first year as a public relations assistant in the Florida State Department of Athletics, was honored Wednesday by the College Sports Communicators as a member of the '30 Under 30' Class of 2023. The honor recognizes emerging athletics communications professionals at all levels of college sports in strategic, creative and digital spaces.

Coleman worked with Florida State's nationally ranked men's and women's track and field programs in her first season at Florida State after excelling for five years as a student athletic communication assistant at Thomas University in Georgia. She served as the primary contact for the cross country, track and field and  women's soccer teams. Coleman was a secondary communications contact for the women's basketball, softball, baseball, flag football and football teams during her career at Thomas.

"It's really an honor to be recognized with so many talented, upcoming young sports communications professionals," Coleman said. "This is a true testament of staying the course and trusting the process, as I have such a unique story.

"More importantly I'm really grateful to represent Florida State University and the Public Relations office here at the CSC Convention. Florida State has given me an opportunity to continue my dream career and I hope I'm making everyone proud along the way. I hope my story inspires more young people to pursue this profession and never give up on their dreams."

Now in its second year of honoring rising professionals in the college athletics communications profession, the 30 under 30 program is quickly becoming one of the top awards presented at the annual CSC convention.

"The CSC 30 Under 30 class of 2023 is an outstanding representation of the tremendous young and diverse, strategic and creative talent we have in our organization at all levels of college sports," CSC President John Paquette said. "The 30 Under 30 is among the most popular member recognition programs CSC offers because it is special recognition by your peers. Congratulations to all of our deserving winners."

Coleman was a decorated student-athlete and member of the track and field team at Thomas. She was named to the NAIA's Sun Conference All-Academic Team eight times and earned three All-Conference recognitions in her career. In 2023, she was named an NAIA Academic All-American and received the Sun Conference Champion of Character Award. Coleman holds six school records in the shot put, discus, and javelin.

Coleman earned her bachelor's degree in film studies in 2024 from Thomas University, maintaining a 3.5 grade point average throughout her college career while earning President and Dean's List recognition numerous times during her career.
