TALLAHASSEE – Florida State baseball had four representatives – James Tibbs III, Jaime Ferrer, Brennen Oxford and Daniel Cantu – on the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District Team announced Tuesday. To be eligible for the team, a player must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA, play in 90 percent of a team's games or start 66 percent of the games. For pitchers, they must pitch in 17 games or 25 innings.

Tibbs, the 2024 ACC Player of the Year, graduated in the spring with a degree in political science. The junior from Marietta, Georgia, led the conference with 25 home runs and 84 RBI entering the NCAA Tournament and became the ninth Seminole to win the league's top honor.

Ferrer, from Bayamon, Puerto Rico, earned a spot on the All-ACC Academic Team and the ACC Academic Honor Roll his first two seasons in Tallahassee. This year, he hit a career-high 17 home runs on the field to earn third-team All-ACC recognition.

Oxford, a transfer from Wake Forest in his second year at FSU, is working toward his Master's degree in hospitality entrepreneurship. Twice a member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll – once at Wake Forest, once at Florida State – Oxford, a Durham, New Hampshire, native, graduated from Wake with a degree in communication. On the field, Oxford leads FSU with 28 pitching appearances and leads the FSU bullpen with a 2.90 ERA, six saves and 64 strikeouts.

Cantu, from Jacksonville, Florida, earned his athletic coaching certificate last month after earning his undergraduate degree at USF, where he played for four seasons. Cantu was a three-time member of the AAC All-Academic Team with the Bulls and also earned CSC Academic All-District honors last season. For the Seminoles, Cantu is hitting .315 with eight home runs and 40 RBI while reaching base at a .410 pace.
