Wilson, Varjasi Set National Record at Olympics

PARIS – Rising Florida State junior Max Wilson set a new national record for the U.S. Virgin Islands at the Olympic Games in Paris on Sunday in the men's 100 back.
Seeded with a time of 55.15, Wilson worked from lane eight in heat two. He led from start to finish, touching with a time of 54.49, taking 27th place overall.
On Saturday, Peter Varjasi competed in the final of the men's 4x100 free relay. In the heats, Varjasi anchored Germany to finish eighth with a time of 3:13.15, claiming the last spot in the final.
At night, Varjasi once again anchored, splitting 47.92 to move the Germans up to place seventh at 3:12.29, setting a new national record.
Ida Hulkko also competed in the women's 100 breast on Sunday, touching 26th at 1:08.73.
Action will continue Monday, with heat of the women's 100 back, featuring Emma Terebo.

A two-time World Aquatics silver medalist, Carlson is currently second in the rankings on the 2024 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series with 59 points.
