TALLAHASSEE - The No. 1 Florida State soccer team (3-0-1) earned a 1-1 draw against No. 24 Georgia (1-1-2) on Thursday night. Taylor Huff secured the game-tying goal to record her fourth goal in four games.
The Seminoles began the match with good chances including a strong shot from Huff that was met by Georgia goalkeeper Jordan Brown. Georgia opened the scoring just inside 15 minutes, marking the first time FSU conceded a goal in the past 320 minutes of play dating back to the national championship victory over Stanford.
Florida State outshot the Bulldogs 18-4 in the first half and the opportunities kept arriving. A shot from Ashlyn Puerta was saved by Brown on the goal line before Huff's incredible free kick chance needed a high-flying save. Ran Iwai dished in a well-placed long ball into Huff who drove into the box before firing her left-footed effort into the back of the net to level the score.
FSU maintains its 27 game unbeaten streak and has tallied over 20 shots in all four games this season. The Seminoles have averaged over 15 shots on goal per game and scored 19 goals this season. FSU has now conceded just two goals since its ACC Championship victory over Clemson.
Florida State will host the final match of its four-game homestand against Villanova on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. and available to stream on ACC Network Extra.
