TALLAHASSEE – Florida State, the 2024 NCAA Runner-Up team, is ranked No. 3 in the 2024-25 Preseason Bushnell/Golfweek Division I Men's Golf Poll. The Seminoles were one of just three teams to receive at least one first place vote and are slotted behind only No. 1 Auburn -- the 2024 National Champion – and No. 2 Arizona State – the 2024 Pac-12 champion -- to begin the 2024-25 season.

Florida State finished as the 2024 NCAA National Runners-Up and returns three players (Luke Clanton, Gray Albright, and Tyler Weaver) to their roster. All three returning golfers played in the match play portion of the National Championship Tournament.

"I like this team, and I am excited to see how they embrace their new roles and create their own legacy," said Head Coach Trey Jones. "When you have three All-Americans graduate (Fredrick Kjettrup, Cole Anderson, and Brett Roberts) and still be recognized as a top program it says a great deal about our culture and infrastructure."

The Seminoles are the highest ranked ACC team with No. 5 North Carolina, No. 6 Virginia, No. 11 Georgia Tech, No. 23 Stanford, and No. 24 Duke rounding out the top 25. Five more ACC teams – Cal, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, Louisville, and Clemson – were all in the category of other teams receiving votes.

The Seminoles were the No. 1 seed at the 2024 NCAA Stanford Regional and have played in 18 consecutive NCAA Regional Championships and four consecutive NCAA Championship Finals. Florida State has finished in fifth place in stroke play at both the 2023 (tied for fifth) and 2024 (fifth) NCAA Championships and have advanced to Match Play at the NCAA Championships in three of the last four years. In 2021, the Seminoles finished in sixth place in stroke play and advanced to match play at the NCAA Championship site for the first time in school history.

Clanton earned All-American First-Team honors as named by Ping in 2024, was a Jack Nicklaus Award finalist, a Haskins Award finalist, named to the Ping All-Southeast Regional Team, earned All-ACC honors, and was named as the ACC Golfer of the Month in both March and April during the 2024 season. He established the lowest single-season stroke average in school history in 2024 (69.33) and enters his third season as a Seminole ranked second in school history with a 70.36 career stroke average.

Albright, who earned All-ACC honors in 2024, record a career-low 71.65 scoring average in 2024, won the Watersound Invitational, and earned four top 10 individual finishes including a tie for fifth place finish at the 2023 Jackson Stephens Cup. Weaver was named the 2024 ACC Freshman of the Year, earned All-ACC Honors in his first season as a Seminole, was 3-0 in Match Play during the NCAA Championship with wins against North Carolina, Georgia Tech, and Auburn. He finished his freshman season with a 71.71 stroke average and earned two top 10 individual finishes as a freshman in 2024.
