TALLAHASSEE – Florida State will face Tulane in the AutoNation Orange Bowl Classic on December 14, 2024 at the Amerant Bank Arena at 4:30 p.m. in Sunrise, Fla., as announced by the Orange Bowl Committee. The Seminoles' game against the Green Wave marks their 14th appearance in the event as Head Coach Leonard Hamilton and senior All-American candidate Jamir Watkins aim to build on their impressive all-time record of 9-4 in Orange Bowl Classic.
The Seminoles and the Green Wave will meet for the 39th time and for the first time in the Orange Bowl Classic. The Seminoles have won three straight, and six of the last seven, games in the series against Tulane since an 85-79 win over the Green Wave on February 2, 1991. Florida State leads the all-time series by a 26-12 margin. Florida State and Tulane were members of the Metro Conference from 1975-85 and from 1989-91.
Ron Hunter is in his third season as the head coach at Tulane during his three stops as a head coach at IUPUI (1995-2011), Georgia State (2012-19), and Tulane (2020-21). He has faced the Seminoles once – a 59-54 Florida State win at the Donald L. Tucker Center on November 17, 2021.
"Playing Tulane in the AutoNation Orange Bowl Classic is a great game for our team and our fans in south Florida," said Head Coach Leonard Hamilton. "For our players, Tulane is a well-coached, tough, fundamentally sound team who challenged us in every way possible when we played them in Tallahassee in 2021. For our fans, it's a great opportunity to showcase our new players to our loyal fans who always support us well in this event."
Florida State's game against Tulane is the second game of a doubleheader that begins at approximately 4:30 p.m. The first game features UCF against Tulsa with the tip time schedule for 2:00 p.m. for the Knights and Golden Hurricanes.
"We are delighted to have four exceptional collegiate basketball programs and their fans coming to south Florida this holiday season for the 2024 AutoNation Orange Bowl Basketball Classic," said Orange Bowl Committee President & Chair Bradley D. Houser. "We are extremely grateful for our partners AutoNation and Amerant Bank Arena for helping create a fantastic day of collegiate basketball and family enjoyment."
