No. 9 FSU Sweeps Georgia Southern In Weekend Finale

TALLAHASSEE – The No. 9 Florida State men's tennis team sealed its third and final clinching sweep of the weekend over Georgia Southern at the Indoor Tennis Courts on Sunday afternoon. The Seminoles have won 10 consecutive indoor matches dating back to January 28, 2024.

FSU faced early adversity after an injury in warm-ups forced a last minute shuffling of the pairings, but the team answered the call with its most dominant doubles performance of the season. Alex Bulte and Youcef Rihane came out firing, winning the first five games before earning a top-75 ranked victory with a 6-1 scoreline. Jamie Connel and Corey Craig were bumped up to Court 2 and performed superbly to take the doubles point with a 6-2 win.

Joshua Dous-Karpenschif punctuated his impressive weekend by blanking his opponent 6-0 in the first frame before seeing out the second team point of the match with a 6-1 second set. Dous-Karpenschif has played on three different courts and has won 36 of 42 games.

Azariah Rusher continued his strong start to his sophomore campaign with a dominant showing on Court 6, blanking his opponent in the second set and winning 12 of 13 games on the afternoon.

Connel clinched the final point of the match after making a strong first set comeback and slamming the door shut with a 6-0 second frame for his fourth win of the season. Connel has won all seven sets in singles play in 2025.

FSU has yet to drop a singles match in the opening four matches.

Florida State continues its nine match homestand with Georgia State on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center. Live video and stats will be available on Seminoles.com.
