Noles Fall to No. 4 Pitt

TALLAHASSEE - The Florida State volleyball team (8-7, 2-4) fell to No. 4 Pitt (13-3, 5-1) in three sets (14-25, 19-25, 21-25) on Sunday afternoon in front of a capacity crowd at Tully Gym.
The Panthers got off to a hot start in set one and led from start to finish to take the opening set. One bright spot for the Noles was Kyleene Filimaua who continued her hot play with five kills in the opening set.
Set two was much more competitive as the Noles found some rhythm on offense. Pitt was able to extend its lead to 14-9, but the Noles rallied back with a 5-1 run to cut the lead to one. The Noles continued to hang within striking distance, but the Panthers pulled away late to take the set 25-19.
Set three was very competitive as the Noles defense was able to keep the Panthers' offense in check as the teams were tied at 18 all. Pitt stormed to the finish winning seven of the final 10 points to complete the sweep.
Filimaua led the way with 11 kills for the Noles for her fourth consecutive match in double figures.
The Noles will be back in action on Thursday night against No. 6 Stanford in Palo Alto. First serve is set for 10 p.m. on ACCNX.
